Student Voice

At My Oasis we recognise the value that each young person brings, with us consistently welcoming their views and those of their parents and guardians. Regular feedback provided from students is then incorporated into the delivery and success of the Therapeutic Alternative Provision (TAP). Students provide both formal and informal feedback and are involved in decision making regarding the running of My Oasis wherever possible. Student voice is obtained in terms of their attitudes towards the provision and their learning, how safe they feel at My Oasis, along with their goals and aspirations for the future.

My Oasis helped me with a lot of thing's but what it has helped me with is that everybody is different in there own ways, it's okay not to be okay and it helped me understand that it's only you that can make thing's better and change them to the way you want your life to go.

Overall, I'm so thankful for the opportunity to go to My Oasis and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you all, staff. We all love and appreciate what you do for us to be the best version of ourselves. And enjoy the experience.

On my first day at MyOasis I was quite scared of the new environment however I quickly learned to adapt and become comfortable as everyone was so welcoming. I was struggling a lot with my mental health at the beginning yet I learned to cope in better ways and deal with my emotions a lot better. I am grateful that I was able to have support and care throughout my GCSE's, and I appreciate everything everyone has done for me.

My time at My Oasis has been the thing I've been needing to go from a boring school student to an independent, strong, resilient person. When we all first started, we didn't speak as much and weren't as confident but progressing through it has made it feel more like a family. Everyone's friendly and easy to speak to, which makes it feel less of a chore like school and more of a comfortable learning environment. All of the staff are amazing and friendly. I'm so appreciative of the support I get so I never feel unheard or not listened to.

On my first day at My Oasis, I was very anxious, and worried about being around other people. I felt like I was going to be seen as 'strange'. After a couple of days here, I felt a lot more comfortable, and felt welcomed. The more days I came, the less anxious and more comfortable I felt. I'm very grateful for everything that has been done for me, it has made me a lot more confident, and helped me lots in my GCSEs.

My time at My Oasis helped me when I was at the lowest in my life, the kind staff helped me come out of my shell and take little steps out of my comfort zone to break the cage I had built around myself. I am so much braver, happier, and more confident thanks to My Oasis. Now that I've finished my exams, it's been such a huge relief because I've done it! All of the assistance I've gotten means more to me than words can express. Thank you sooooo much!

On my first day at My Oasis I was a very anxious person. I didn’t want to communicate with anyone at all because I was worried that I would be thought of as a weird girl. I was so worried about the environment that I would be in because of how it went for me although I had all those worries. I was welcomed in by the best staff and pupils and became comfortable with them. I struggled a lot with my mental health at the start but now I have learnt how I cope with it because of the support and help from my Oasis. I also struggled a lot with my anxiety, I didn’t want or like being around people but now I’ve learnt in life we will always have to come across people. You’ve just got to learn to love yourself.
