Governors play a key role in any mainstream school or alternative provision

The governors at My Oasis are an important part of the provision’s family and help to ensure that My Oasis is supported as much as possible.

The key core functions are:

• To support the provision in pursuit of its vision and overall aims.
• Promote high standards and ensure students attend a successful alternative educational provision.
• To have strategic oversight of the day-to-day running of the provision including the safety and wellbeing of students and My Oasis staff.
• To hold My Oasis’s lead accountable for academic performance, quality of care and provision.
• To develop effective communication channels with all stakeholders.
• Oversee the financial performance of the provision and make sure the money is well spent to best support the students placed with us.

Our Chair of governors James McDonald has successfully established and maintained three alternative provisions based in Liverpool, having a 97% success rate in terms of reintegrating students back into mainstream education. His knowledge and experience, along with advice received from retired and current headteachers, has been invaluable in shaping the development of My Oasis.
